Growing Pains

CORNERSTONE FELLOWSHIP

was launched in January of 1997 with about 50 excited friends. Over the next six months, it grew to just over a hundred. We were on our way; Dan's decades-long dream of pastoring a church was coming to pass.

 

Unbeknownst to us, it was, indeed coming to pass. Over the next two years, it grew back down to about 50 tattered souls. It was a sweet but troubling time.

 

But God had a few tricks up His sleeve. For one thing, Dan's 20+ year journey OUT OF a Cessationist world-view was coming to a dramatic conclusion. First, the Holy Spirit finally got it through Dan's thick enlightenment skull that God still talked. Once Dan got the memo, he started listening . . . and the Lord made up for lost time. Dan filled up piles of journals as he jogged all over town writing down what God was saying.

Among other things, the Lord said, "You are a Pastor of the City . . . NOT of a local church; shut down your Sunday Morning and worship me in Moore Square."
